This is our first draft of our print product which will be a CD digipak. We chose to keep it simple and not have too much going on on the cover because it could look too overcrowded. We chose to have the artists name and a picture of her on the cover to brand the artist as much as possible. We named the CD 'One Night Only' as we thought it would fit the type of CD well and its catchy like a slogan, making it memorable. Due to it being an album cover and not a single cover we did not want the cover to reflect the music video we are producing and wanted to represent the album as a whole. Despite this we did incorporate elements of our video into the cover such as the black hat as this is our artists trademark style that will help brand her.
This is our second draft of the front cover. This design includes the title of the song and the artist only, with a background that is bolder and darker round the outsides then gets lighter towards the middle. I like this design because although it's simple the text stands out and the way the background goes from dark to light is like a spotlight on the text.
This is our third front cover design. We got our inspiration for this one from the Leona Lewis Spirit front cover as she uses an extreme close up. However the only problem with this cover is that we did not know where to incorporate the text or what colour to have the text as we didn't want it to cover her face. But if we had it covering her hat, having a white text would blend in with the background in either corner but black wouldn't be possible either due to the colour of the hat. For this design we would need to try a variety of colours to see which worked best.
